ScoreStik

Scoreboard 2        Mini-ScoreStik        Home

The ScoreStik is a 24 inch aluminum straightedge backed with Wedgie tape. When you place the ScoreStik on a piece of glass and apply a little pressure to it, the ScoreStik will not slip. The only thing you have to worry about is keeping your cutter in contact with the ScoreStik and not letting your cutter tip left or right.

If you look closely at the picture, the ScoreStik is resting on a piece of glass sitting at a 45 degree angle to the horizontal. It is not moving. The Wedgie tape backing won't let it slip. Since the glass is obviously not touching the table, You should know that the glass is sitting on a Wedgie (angled at 45 degrees) sitting atop another Wedgie lying flat. A second ScoreStik is shown resting near the bottom of the glass with the backing side up.

Because the ScoreStik is backed with Wedgie tape, if you get it dirty or dusty, just hold the backing under running water and wipe the tape with your fingers. Pat it dry and it will be like new.

We've been producing the ScoreStik for a long time. Over the years, a lot of folks have asked us why we don't put a measuring tape on the top of the bar. There is a reason why we don't do that. The ScoreStik is about 3/16 inch thick. That means that the marks on the tape would be 3/16 inch above the glass. Your odds of marking a piece of glass accurately would be very low. We only use measuring devices where the lines are right on the glass. An Engineer's scale (which measures in decimal inches) is ideal when you're working with computed dimensions. An Architect's scale (using the 16 marks per inch side) is OK if you're working with fractional inches. You can get an Engineer's or Architect's scale at Staples of Office Depot for about 3 dollars (student version). The Professional version is about 8 dollars but I can't see 5 dollars worth of difference between the two. There are also some clear plastic scales that actually have the lines on the bottom the scale which can also be very useful. Find something where you can put the marks on the glass and use it all the time.
